Stay sane in a crazy world!

Man, oh man. These are certainly some crazy times, friends, and it’s really got me thinking. With so much more time on my hands, and fewer distractions, I’ve had a lot of time to contemplate and reflect. I’ve had time to create art, to connect with people through video chats and postcards and letters. I’ve […]

I am…

“I am” are two of the most powerful and underrated words in the English language. “Yahweh,” the Hebrew name for God, is actually translated to “I am.”  Those two words shape who we are and who we become. Think about that for a second. Think about the power behind those words. And then think about […]

Time To Press Reset

I woke up the other morning and my first thought was, “How many times can I press snooze without being late?” After the umpteenth time, & undoubtably driving my roommate completely insane, I thought, “Do I actually need to get out of bed this morning?” My third thought was really more of an illegible tangle […]

Go Have An Artgasm

Our twenties are for adventurousness. This is our time to push the boundaries, to question everything and know that we know nothing. These are our explorative years, the times we should be using to create memories that we’ll reflect on 80+ years from now, creasing our smile lines even deeper. Over the past few months, […]

The City Among The Trees

Imagine a glimmering city tucked safely in the heart of breathtaking natural beauty. Imagine a city filled with inclusive people with good ole’ fashioned southern charm. Picture a secret garden complete with mermaids and goddesses, and a jungle filled with exotic plants and wild animals. Dolphins perform and tiny doors are nestled among colorful art […]

Take The Leap

The first blog post I ever wrote was for CameraAndCarryOn. Though it revolved mainly around my adventures cliff diving in the Amalfi Coast, that wasn’t really the point… The point was that sometimes you have to stop thinking, and just jump. I’ve given that advice to so many people, and have always tried to embrace […]

Not far enough

Things you hear while fighting for equality: “We’ve come so far, what more do you want?” “Just stop whining.” “Why is there a women’s march when there’s already equality?” “That racism stuff happened so long ago.” Well, if you ever go to Atlanta—which you so should—you’d be doing yourself a disservice if you don’t pay […]

Seventeen too Many

Seventeen. Seventeen was the age I was my senior year in high school. Seventeen is the amount of times I would write Mrs. Courtney LastNameOfCrush in my notebook. Seventeen is the name of the magazine I learned makeup tips from. Seventeen is the amount of seconds it took to get up the courage to dance […]

Love Your Damn Self!

How many times have we heard, “To be loved, you must first learn to love yourself!”? It’s one of the most commonly said things when it comes to relationship and dating advice, and when we broach the topic of the “L word”. It’s one of those things that, at least for me, has become kind […]

Let’s Change the Dialogue

We hear complaints all the time. If the food at a restaurant comes out cold, the customer will complain and send it back. If an employee makes a mistake, their boss will reprimand them. If our friend or partner says or does something we don’t appreciate, we let them know, and if someone is trailing […]

I Need Some Me Time

Our generation is sooo connected. If someone doesn’t answer us within 5 minutes of sending them a text, we automatically assume they’re “ghosting” us. I’m sorry, but that’s such bull$#*!. We have read receipts so we know for exactly how long someone is ignoring us, Instagram likes to make sure people are acknowledging everything we […]

Peace and Love, Folks

We are born as essentially blank slates. We are taught almost everything we do, think, and know. We learn how to walk, talk, eat, and interact with one another and with the world in which we live. Most of us are taught to love one another, to appreciate the diversity of the world, to embrace […]

Do Your Job & Do It Well

It is a simple concept: we all have a job to do in this world. We are mothers, lawyers, sanitation engineers, writers, models, telemarketers, and doctors. We are Starbucks baristas and Cheesecake Factory servers. We are managers, travel agents, tech support operators, and marketing specialists. We are students and yoga instructors and starving artists. The […]

Embrace The Solar Eclipse

We are all made of stardust. This is not some romantic, poetic, description of human beings, though it does sound like it. This is a fact. Unless you’re one of the few who’s still not so convinced about the whole Big Bang thing, scientists pretty much agree that that’s how we started. So, basically, you […]

All Wounds Heal

When we were little we fell off our bikes and scratched our knees. They would bleed for hours. It hurt to walk or sit; the bandaids covered the gashes, but we still felt them. Eventually, though, they healed. Bruises turned yellow and purple and black and blue. Scabs of bright red grew dark and then […]

Inspiring 20something: Drew Howard

This week I had the pleasure of interviewing 22-year-old Drew Howard from Weston, Florida. I started this Inspiring 20something section for all of my incredible readers, but I ended up getting more out of this than I had ever imagined. Drew is perhaps one of the most driven and inspiring people I have ever come […]

Buy Your Own Stock

Investing in yourself is one of the most basic, and most difficult, components of success. We often feel so uncomfortable and intimidated when promoting, investing in, or talking about ourselves and our accomplishments. It feels like we are bragging or full of ourselves or so many other things we try not to be or do, […]

You Either Break Up Or You Get Married

Every single time you enter into a new relationship, accept a date request, or even swipe right and match with someone on Bumble, you will either marry that person, or you two will break up.

It seems like a weird way to look at it, but it’s true. There are obviously varying degrees of this: realizing it won’t work out with Bumble bae is a lot less traumatic than realizing it won’t work out with the person you’ve been living with for the last two years. No mater the circumstances, though, ending things with someone, or having them do the dirty deed, just sucks.

Inspiring 20something: Joel Eriksson

I am so excited to announce our first ever Inspiring 20Something!

This week, we will be featuring the incredibly talented Joel Eriksson.

At 24-years-young, Joel works as a full-time photographer, spreading his talent and positivity from bewitching beaches to our personal screens. His vibrant shots focus on blue skies, bluer waters, and beautiful bikinis.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Joel about his journey, and I can’t imagine speaking with someone more down to earth, passionate about what they do, or open-minded.

Take a Selfie; Fake a Life

Everyone reading this blog probably has at least one form of social media. In fact, you probably have several. How many hours do we spend each and every day stalking friends on Facebook, checking up on our Instagram likes, or pinning posts on Pinterest to discover new ways to keep up with the trends? I […]

Feeling Lost After Graduation?

So, you’ve just graduated, and you’re really proud of yourself. You should be! I mean, college is hard; there are projects, exams, and endless piles of laundry that we are expected to just figure out how to do all on our own. You did it, though. You made it through, walked across that stage, took […]

A Day in Exuma, Bahamas

When a friend asks you if you’d like to go on a day trip to the Bahamas in her family’s plane, you say yes. You then proceed to have an incredible adventure!! When I saw the six-seater plane her uncle would be flying us in my heart dropped. I knew it was small, but I’ve […]

Hey, Twentysomething!

We are twentysomethings. We are the generation of iphones, photo-worthy coffee, and frequent traveling. We grew up with Rugrats and Lizzie McGuire, and together we suffered through furbies and ankle-crushing razor scooters. We are twentysomethings, and we are awesome. Our age group is fearless, empowered, passionate, creative, and amazing in so many ways. This blog […]
